Lexis Advance US Research

Lexis Advance US Research is one of the world's largest legal databases. It contains primary and secondary materials from all over the world, however its main focus is material from the USA.


Navigating to Law Reviews & Journals on Lexis Advance US Research

  1. Go to the Lexis Advance US Research database homepage via the Library A-Z databases.
  2. On the Lexis Advance US Research homepage under the Content heading, select the link to Law Reviews & Journals.


 

Tip

Select International to search for resources from jurisdictions other than the United States (for example; Canada).

 

 


Searching Lexis Advance US Research

  1. Select 'Advanced Search' above the main search bar.

     

     

  2. Use the Advanced search form to undertake a comprehensive search.
    1. To do keyword searching on a topic use the Terms form.
    2. To find articles with a specific title or author use the Document Segments/Fields form.
    3. Where you see an add button at the end of a field, ensure that you click it before you select search.
       

Note

This form only uses connectors and expanders, which are listed on the right side of the screen.

Example of Advanced Search

Here is an example of using Advanced Search in Lexis Advance US Research, Law Reviews & Journals. This example shows the search terms diabetes and discrimination and privacy in the All of these terms field. It also shows the search term Krent in the Author field.

 



Lexis Advance US Research search results

After you have submitted your Advanced Search form, the resource records will be listed in the centre of screen and sorted by relevance. You can narrow your results using the filters in the left panel. For example, you can choose a jurisdiction, or a date range.

You can also add more terms to your current search or change how your results are sorted (using the drop-down menu on the right).

 

 

Click on a result to open the article. Use the top menu to save, print, email or download. Note: The citation is not in AGLC format.
