  • Colour Theory: Understanding and Working with Colour by Lisa Cianci is licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0
    This learning resource covers the history of colour theory, how we see colour, and how to use colour systems to mix colour and create colour relationships. Interactivities: Quizzes to test your knowledge and practical learning activities are included.
  • Essentials of Communication by Michael Cop is licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0
    An introduction to the fundamentals of effective speaking and writing, exploring a variety of contexts in which language is used. Interactivities included.
  • Communication Across Cultures by Heejin Chang, Scott Windeatt and Esther Stockwell is licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0 These resources will prepare culturally and linguistically diverse students for academic study in situations involving intercultural communication. Interactivities included.

Where to find more OER?

There are many platforms available that contain OER, the platforms listed below are a good starting place to find openly available communication and creative arts resources.

  • Lumen Learning - Art History
    Online open textbook covering prehistoric to 20th-century art across the world.
  • MIT Open Courseware - Music, and Theater Arts
    Offers an extensive series of online courses, such as play writing and philosophy in film. Course format generally includes lecture videos, interactive concept quizzes, problem sets, terms and definitions, suggested topics and links, and exams.
  • Project Gutenberg
    Offers over 53,000 free e-books for you to download or read online. This page lists selected art books and books about artists, including practical methods and specialties, as well as general works on art and art history, plus visitor guides to art expos, galleries, and museums.
  • Shakespeare's Hamlet: Text, Performance and Culture
    Experts from the Shakespeare Institute guide an exploration of the most famous play ever staged.
