Step 4 - Do the research and evaluate the results

Annotate your search planner based on your preliminary searches undertaken in step 3.

  • Remember to keep a record of where you have looked and what search terms you have used - this will save you repeating the same searches.
  • Focus on the purpose of your research. Be mindful to filter out any irrelevant results.
  • Analyse the relevant results and see if there are any indicators of other research paths you can follow.
  • Check the currency of your sources. If you find conflicting results, one of the sources may be out of date.

You've found resources, but how do you know whether they're reliable and accurate?  Here is a brief overview of how to evaluate and assess information.
