Article Processing Charge discounts

Deakin University Library has several subscriptions and memberships that offer Deakin researchers discounts on APCs. Authors should ensure that they use their Deakin email address when submitting articles to be identified as eligible for any of the publisher discounts. Some conditions may apply.

Biomed Central/Springer Open

Please follow these submission guidelines

  • BioMed Central – 15% discount on the article-processing charge
    • Only available if Deakin researcher is also corresponding author
  • Springer Open – 15% discount on the article-processing charge.

Elsevier

MDPI

Please note: Deakin’s membership to the MDPI Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute /IOAP Institutional open access program ended on June 30th 2023. From this date, affiliated authors no longer receive the 10% IOAP discount in the MDPI suite of publications.

The Royal Society of Chemistry

15% discount on article processing charges for open access in hybrid journals. No membership code is required to access this discount - it will be applied automatically based on your Deakin email address.

SAGE

Titles not included in the CAUL Open Access Read & Publish Agreement for open access publishing may still benefit from a 20% discount on open access article processing charges (APCs). Please check the full title list to see which journals offer a discount.

Taylor & Francis

10% discount on APCs may apply for Open Select (hybrid titles) that are not currently included in the CAUL Open Access Read & Publish Agreement. Please check the full title list to see which journals offer a discount.
