Managing your staff profile with Find an Expert

Where to edit your profile

All the details in your Find an Expert profile are managed in Elements, the same system you use to update and register your publication and other research outputs. To learn more about using Elements, visit Managing your research outputs at Deakin.

You can update the details in your Find an Expert profile from the Elements homepage by clicking the person icon on the left-hand menu and selecting Edit mode. 

Tip

You do not need to change the Profile privacy option while you edit your profile, changes will automatically appear on Find an Expert within 5 to 10 minutes.

This interactive hotspot image shows a screenshot of Professor Peter Enticott's profile in Elements' view mode. There are plus (+) icons that can be selected to reveal information about the profile menus and functions, as follows:

  • Menu: The menu bar gives you short-cut access to most of the tools and features covered in this guide, including editing your profile, managing your outputs and activities, and going to the Account Settings page.
  • Profile: Clicking on the person icon on the left-hand panel will take you to your profile page.
  • Edit mode: Edit mode will let you modify most of your profile information, including your profile picture, the data in the Hero Bar and About Me sections of your Find an Expert profile.
  • View public profile: Clicking View public profile will take you back to your profile in Find an Expert.
  • About: Much of the information in the About section of your Find an Expert profile is displayed in the About tab of your Elements profile. You can edit this information by going into Edit mode.   • Additional sections: The following tabs list your research outputs, grants, teaching activities and professional activities. Each section has a Manage option that enables you to claim, reject, create and modify your list of content. For more information visit the Update your publications, grants and activities page.

 

Other settings for your profile

Some other settings that affect your profile are found elsewhere in Elements. Navigating to the Account Settings page (accessed by the Menu > My profile > Account Settings) lets you:

  • set a preferred name
  • specify pronouns
  • show or hide your title

 

Tip

Do you have a staff member to whom you want to delegate responsibility for managing your profile? You can set up a delegate on the Account Settings page.
