National Construction Code / Building Code of Australia

The National Construction Code (NCC) is available freely online. However,  students and staff must register first for free online access to the NCC. Click on the register/login button to register and view the NCC. 

Please note that NCC 2022 is now available and will be adopted by the states and territories on 1 May 2023. Read the article on using NCC 2022 prior to 1 May 2023.

The National Construction Code Series (NCC) was developed by the Australian Buildings Code Board (ABCB) and is organised into three volumes.

Building Code of Australia (BCA)

  • Volume 1 covers Class 2 to 9 buildings.
  • Volume 2 covers Class 1 and Class 10 buildings (houses, sheds, carports etc.).

Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA)

  • Volume 3 covers plumbing and drainage associated with all classes of buildings.

Standards Australia

The Australian Standards database (also known as i2i or SAI Global) provides full text of Australian Standards, draft standards and handbooks, and indexing to ISO Standards.
