Web of Science researcher profile

Web of Science Researcher Profile is an author profile system where you can claim publications, track your citations and metrics, and manage your Web of Science record. Partnerships with journals are in place to verify your peer-review and journal editing history in your profile.

Applications

  • Manage your publications in the Web of Science database
  • Get publication metrics for your work indexed in Web of Science, such as h-index and citation counts
  • Get a Web of Science ResearcherID identifier to use in the research analytics product, InCites
  • To demonstrate your peer-review and journal editing history
  • Link your ORCID ID to your Web of Science researcher profile

Considerations

  • Web of Science algorithmically generates author records
  • You need to claim and verify your profile for yourself by logging in with your Web of Science account
  • Free limited view of the the profile is available without product subscription
  • You can add any of your publications to your Web of Science profile, but metrics will only be provided for publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection database.
  • Web of Science Researcher Profiles have replaced Publons since April 2022.

Finding your Web of Science Researcher profile

Follow the step below to find your Web of Science Researcher profile:

  1. Go to Web of Science
  2. Click on the Researcher Profile icon on the left-hand-side of the page
  3. Sign in or register to Web of Science. Note: Web of Science is owned by Clarivate. Therefore, if you have a login for Endnote you can use the same account to sign into Web of Science.
  4. Type your last name into the search box, and select the matching option. Do the same for your first name or initial. Include alternative names if appropriate. Then click Search.
  5. Click on your name in the results list. Alternatively, if there are multiple profiles containing your publications, tick the ones you want to include. Then click View Combined Record.
  6. Click Claim My Record on the author record page.
  7. Follow the steps to verify your publications. Then click Submit.
  8. Verified author profiles show a green checkmark next to the author name.
  9. Once the publications are linked to your profile, you can make edits to update your profile.

 

Link your Web of Science researcher profile to ORCID

To link your ORCID profile to your Web of Science Researcher profile:

  1. Log in to your Web of Science account
  2. Click on the Researcher Profile icon on the left-hand-side of the page
  3. Then click on the Edit button
  4. In the profile setting page, select the ORCID Syncing tab
  5. Select the Connect your ORCID ID button
  6. Next, you will be prompted to sign in to ORCID
  7. Confirm your sign in details and select the Authorize access button
  8. The process will take you back to the Web of Science profile settings menu and display your ORCID ID.

Managing publications in Web of Science researcher profile

By claiming your publications in Web of Science you will be assigned a Web of Science ResearcherID. Making it easier for others to find a list of your publications in Web of Science. Additionally, you can use your ResearcherID in InCites to see your benchmarking and research analytics from your publications in the Web of Science database.

Add or remove publications

To ensure the list of publications is accurate, users can add or remove publications from your Web of Science researcher profile by:

  1. Log in to your Web of Science account
  2. Select the Researcher Profile icon on the left-hand-side of the page
  3. Click the Manage button on the top-right of your publications list
  4. To remove a publication from your profile, click on Delete next to the publication record.
  5. To add publications to your profile, click on the Add publications button at the top of the page.
    • You can add publications using a publication identifier (e.g., title, DOI, or PubMed ID), by syncing with your ORCID, or by uploading a file. Additionally, you can provide your email address to help Web of Science suggest relevant publications for you.

Include publications not indexed in Web of Science

Publications not indexed in Web of Science can be added to Web of Science Researcher profiles. But metrics will only be provided for publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection database.

To add publications not indexed in Web of Science to your Web of Science researcher profile:

  1. Log in to your Web of Science account
  2. Select the Researcher Profile icon on the left-hand-side of the page
  3. Click the Manage button on the top-right of your publications list
  4. Click on the Add publications button at the top of the page.
    • You can add publications using a publication identifier (e.g., title, DOI, or PubMed ID), by syncing with your ORCID, or by uploading a file.

To view these publications in any Researcher profile, click on the Non-Indexed Documents button at the top of the publications list.
