What this module covers

This module is part of the suite of literature review modules for health research. It provides on the screening, data extraction, critical appraisal, synthesis, and dissemination process in a literature review. By engaging with the content in this module, you will:

  • Identify the stages in the screening process.
  • Learn about data elements and the data extraction process.
  • Recognise the need to critically appraise research studies.
  • Discover different techniques for synthesising research evidence and data.
  • Understand the importance of publishing your review.

This module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.


 

Key consideration

Synthesis is the key stage in any review, and maintaining transparency during screening, extraction, appraisal and synthesis is just as important as it is in other aspects of the review process.
