Research Metrics Toolkit

Author Profiles

In order to gather or work with most of the metrics described in this guide, you will need to update and maintain your author profiles regularly - they are the foundation for bibliometric analysis.

There are a couple of different author profiles you will need to consider:

  1. Your Deakin profiles
  2. Your ORCID profile
  3. Your profiles in citation indexes and databases (eg. Scopus, Web of Science, or Google Scholar)

It is essential to regularly maintain and keep up-to-date your author profiles (even those created for you) in order to:

  • Be able to quickly gather accurate research metrics, such as h-index
  • Ensure publications are correctly attributed to you
  • Ensure publications are correctly attributed to Deakin
  • Ensure your work is seen in its best light by reviewers who may use these database products as part of their assessment.
