Picture Books are kept in the Library's CRC and are;

  • arranged by authors last name and then title of work
  • searchable by phrase "picture book" in library 

An example search

"picture book" AND Asia* 

Narrow the search result by selecting the campus specific CRC options under 'Campus Location' in the left column of the search results screen. 

The * at the end of Asia extends your search to all endings of the word Asia for example it searches for the word Asian, Asians or Asia

Young adult fiction is;

  • arranged by authors last name and then title of work
  • searchable by terms "juvenile fiction" or  "young adult fiction" or "junior fiction"

An example:

From the Library home page, enter your topic  "juvenile literature" AND refugee* into the search box.

You can narrow the search result by selecting the campus specific CRC options under 'Campus Location' in the left column of the search results screen. The * extends your search to all endings of the word refugee for example it search for the word refugees as well.

The annual Journal of the Modern Language Association Seminar on Children's Literature and the Children's Literature Association published in the US.

The Lion and the Unicorn
A critical journal of Children's Literature published in the United States.

Children's Literature in Education
This journal features articles and interviews on noted children's authors, critiques of classic and contemporary writing for young readers, and original articles describing successful classroom reading projects.

Children's Literature Association Quarterly
A peer reviewed academic journal sponsored by the Children's Literature Association in the US 'encouraging high standards of criticism, scholarship, research and teaching in children's literature'.

The Looking Glass
The Looking Glass: New Perspectives on Children's Books is an electronic journal about children's literature. The site was launched April 2, 1997 -- International Children's Book Day. The journal is published by a small group of volunteers whose expertise includes writing, editing, teaching, publishing, librarianship -- all the various aspects of children's books and literature.
