Education

There are Curriculum Resource Collections at the Geelong Waurn Ponds, Melbourne Burwood and Warrnambool campus libraries. They contain teaching, classroom and curriculum planning materials for the School of Education Students.

Sections of the CRC and their location

  • Non-fiction books, readers, DVD's, music books and CD's - Main shelves in Dewey order
  • Small or light non-book items in hanging bags - Hanging shelves with HANGING after call no.
  • Children's literature - Main shelves in sections: PICTURE BOOK, JUNIOR FICTION
  • Large non-book items - Large shelves with JUMBO after call no.
  • Big books with accompanying material - Hanging shelves with HANGING after call no.
  • Posters - Poster racks

How do I find picture books?

Using Picture books as a search term will retrieve results with that in the book's subject heading.

How do I find children’s works on a particular theme in the collection?

From the Library home page, enter your topic  "juvenile literature" AND refugee* into the search box.

You can narrow the search result by selecting the campus specific CRC options under 'Campus Location' in the left column of the search results screen. The * extends your search to all endings of the word refugee for example it search for the word refugees as well.

How do I find a novel suitable for teenagers?

Young adult fiction is held in the JUNIOR FICTION section of the CRC. Search for the terms ‘young adult fiction’ or ‘junior fiction’ and a topic, title or author. On the left of the next screen you can restrict your search to the CRC collection and Location to narrow search results. Or you can simply browse the JUNIOR FICTION section on the shelf; they are arranged by author.

How do I find poetry?

Using  "juvenile poetry" as a search term will retrieve results with that in the book's subject heading

How do I find kits, games, puppets and other non-book resources?

Use the type of resource as a keyword and combine it with a topic, for example math* AND kit.

You can narrow the search result by selecting the campus specific CRC options under 'Campus Location' in the left column of the search results screen. The * extends your search to all endings of the word math for example it search for the word mathematics as well.
